Fast and Efficient
Wholemount is one of the most powerful tools available to determine the location in which genes are expressed in biological samples. It has proven to be a mainstay in developement biology as well as a vital tool in planning physiological and pharmaceutical studies. A key issue, however, with this process is ensuring that the reactant is not only applied effectively to the core of all samples tested, but that it is effectively removed after the reactant has found a genetic match and fixed itself to a gene that has expressed. Failure to remove this reactant adequately can result in false results be they false negative or false positives.
This problem is further exacerbated by the large size of 3D biological samples. This leads to long hybridization periods required for probe and antibody incubation and long washing periods ranging from hours to overnight ; increasing the overall duration of the procedure by several days (traditionally 3 to 4 days are necessary).
A key benefit of the Flogentec device is that it drastically reduces lead times and the need for human intervention in the analytic process. Similarly, because samples are subjected to a constant flow of reactant, no stagnation occurs and thus, incubation and washing stages are more efficient and then are shorter.
