User-Friendly Flogentec is a fully automated user-friendly device that controls the 3D Wholemount labelling process. Users are able to use preset programmes on their PC (Windows format) and then individually tailor these settings to their individual needs and save them. An infinite number of bespoke programs can be created by the user on his laptop or PC by adjusting the preset settings supplied by Flogentec. This data can then be imported into the Flogentec device via a USB port and stored in its memory. This system ensures that the device can work as a "stand-alone" machine and is not dependant upon a personal computer to function in a laboratory environment. This can help preserve the life of your PC which is susceptible to damage in a laboratory setting and also safeguards it against theft. Similarly this gives the user the flexibility to prepare future experiments or analyse past ones where he wants, when he wants. The data transmitted to the Flogentec device contains important information relating to the solvents used, their flow rate and duration, probes or antibodies and the temperatures of each flow cell at each individual stage of the process. Similarly, data relating to each experiment can be exported back into your PC after the successful completion of a session for further analysis. Compact in size and running off low voltage current (24 volts) the device is not only easy to use but is safe. Furthermore, if the laboratory is subject to an electrical power cut, the device’s back up power supply (batteries) will ensure that the researcher or technician’s experiment is not ruined.
Fast and Efficient Wholemount is one of the most powerful tools available to determine the location in which genes are expressed in biological samples. It has proven to be a mainstay in developement biology as well as a vital tool in planning physiological and pharmaceutical studies. A key issue, however, with this process is ensuring that the reactant is not only applied effectively to the core of all samples tested, but that it is effectively removed after the reactant has found a genetic match and fixed itself to a gene that has expressed. Failure to remove this reactant adequately can result in false results be they false negative or false positives. This problem is further exacerbated by the large size of 3D biological samples. This leads to long hybridization periods required for probe and antibody incubation and long washing periods ranging from hours to overnight ; increasing the overall duration of the procedure by several days (traditionally 3 to 4 days are necessary). A key benefit of the Flogentec device is that it drastically reduces lead times and the need for human intervention in the analytic process. Similarly, because samples are subjected to a constant flow of reactant, no stagnation occurs and thus their integrity is preserved.
